How I often wonder why you went to Calvary
Died upon a lonely cross 'cos you said that you loved me
Went through suffering and torture, and pain at the end
Oh such amazing love, that I can't start to comprehend

          You were crucified like a sinner, for all the world to see
          You put yourself upon the cross, 'cos it was meant to be
          And we know you weren't held by nails as it says in history
          You were held to that lonely cross by your undying love for me

Until the end you had a choice, you could have changed your mind
But if you had, eternal life none of us would find
Two thousand years of bitterness still haunt the world today
But because of what you did Lord, it can all be taken away

And so Lord, I ask you, to never let me forget
What you have already done for me, and what you're going to do yet
I pray you'll keep my eyes open, so that I will always see
It wasn't nails that held you there, it was your undying love for me
